A Case for
Independence!
During the months of May and June, the
Mission’s Committee of White Rock Community Church is partnering with
White Rock Friends for a major SUITCASE DRIVE for our clients.
Programs Offered We believe cleanliness is essential to healthy living. Many people living
with HIV/AIDS have limited access to personal hygiene items and cleaning
supplies. The General Store distributes personal care products (soap,
shampoo, toothpaste), and household cleaning products (laundry detergent,
bleach) to clients of White Rock Friends. The store is open on the first
three Tuesdays and Saturdays of each month from 10 AM until 2 PM. Saturday Meals Program: Many of our clients depend on community resources for food and meal assistance.
Our Saturday program provides much needed meals during the weekends when
other agencies are closed. Each week we serve as many as 130 people a
warm lunch in our activity center. Volunteers of the lunch program offer
encouragement and fellowship. We can always use extra hands to serve a
plate, scrub a pot, and share God's love through this kitchen ministry.
Lunch is available between 11 AM until 1 PM on the first three Saturdays
of each month. Clothes Closet On the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month the Clothes Closet is open to
clients of the General Store. Clients can select a number gently used
garments donated by members and visitors of White Rock Community Church. Friends Pet Pals Program Assists our clients with the needs of their loving companions. Caring
for a their pets provides therapeutic benefits for many of our clients.
Your gifts of dog food, cat food and cat litter enables them to keep their
pets with less financial hardship. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays
and Saturdays in the activity center, or at any time in the church office. Spiritual / Ministerial Counseling Pastors are available to offer individual spiritual counseling and guidance.
Referrals White Rock Friends is part of the Dallas County AIDS assistance network.

There are many ways you can support our efforts: Donations Accepted We welcome donations of personal hygiene products (soaps, shampoos, detergents,
cleaning supplies) and gently used clothing. All donations are distributed
directly to our clients. Please contact Associate Pastor Douglas Shaffer
for a detail list of items distributed. Volunteer Volunteers support the General Store, Saturday lunches, and Clothes Closet.
We welcome help during our operating hours. Adopt A Friend For as little as $25 a month, you can provide a person with much needed
items to help them maintain healthy personal hygiene and a clean environment.
And remember, your donations are tax deductible. Friends Cares You can contribute to our cause each time you shop at a Kroger store
by simply presenting a Kroger Cares Card and having it scanned when you
check out. One percent of your total grocery bill will come back to our
ministry to help keep our shelves stocked and it doesn't cost you anything.
Please contact us to get your card. Sponsor a Lunch For as little as $200 our volunteers can create a warm meal for as many
as 100 people. For More Information Please contact Associate Pastor Douglas at 214-320-0043, ext. 29. You

Please
bring clothes and food pantry items on 1st - 3rd Saturdays from
08:30 - 2:00pm. Items can not be accepted
in the Church Office area but must be taken to the Activity Center.
Many White Rock Friends clients use public transportation to access our
General Store and other service organizations. One member of our church
who volunteers at the AIDS Resource center food pantry says sometimes he
sees clients who do not take all the food available to them because they
are traveling on the buss and cannot carry it all.
If you start looking at your local discount store, you’ll see you can
acquire a pretty sizeable and sturdy case for $25 or $30. You may even
have a functional but forgotten case in the hallway closet. Our desire
is that they have wheels and handles for ease of use by clients.
Think about it, your donation could be LIFE CHANGING for someone who can
use it to carry their cleaning and hygiene products along with their
clothes closet items and their pet food. They can use it again when they
go shopping or go to the food pantry. Managing multiple bags getting on
and off the bus can be difficult, especially for someone who may have a
physical limitation or fragile health. Through your generosity— you can
give someone the independence they need to manage the necessities of
life!
Our collection will run through the months of May and June with the
distribution occurring on July 5th during our quarterly client party. We
will have special drawings throughout our lunch that day from 11:00 am
to 1:00 pm with a special Independence Day Menu including an ice cream
bar for our clients.
Please pass this along to your friends and coworkers—-round up some
roller suitcases and help us make
