Douglas Shaffer
Associate Pastor
Pastor Douglas provides oversight and Pastoral Care of the Friend's Ministry and our Outreach programs; seeking new and innovative direction in reaching out to our community. As God directs people into our church, Douglas seeks to enhance their welcome and aid them in their service to ministry for education, celebration and service.
Douglas' education toward ministry includes two years at Evangel College, and two years at Central Bible College. Additionally, he has completed two years of the Education for Ministry curriculum through the University of the South. His church involvement includes work as a Children's Pastor, Episcopal Cathedral Chapter member, and deacon, along with other various ministry involvements.
Marianne Mundee
Assistant Pastor
Born and raised in Dallas, Marianne Mundee attended MacArthur High School, Mountain View Junior College, UT Health Science Center in Dallas and received her Masters in Counseling from Amberton University. For 25 years she has provided individual, couples, and family social work services in Dallas County. She currently monitors residential treatment facilities for children throughout the State of Texas. While in graduate school, Pastor Marianne learned of White Rock Community Church's Friends Ministry program. "After attending one time, I knew I had finally found a church that provided comfort and peace in bringing my spiritual foundation and my identity together with a church family serving God in word and in Spirit."
Marianne Mundee was called to serve as Assistant Pastor in 1997. She now serves as spiritual counselor, liaison to the Women's and Couples Ministry, and leads home bible studies and Sunday School classes.
Vivian Davis
Assistant Pastor
Pastor Viv has been a member of WRCC for almost 15 years. During this time she has been a choir member, Women’s Ministry Chair, Personnel Committee member, and an ordained Deacon for 4 years. In 1997 she was Ordained as an Assistant Pastor for White Rock Community Church.
Her professional career and educational degree is as a Registered Nurse. Her career has encompassed numerous aspects of clinical, corporate and patient/ family counseling.
Her personal experience includes church accompanist for 25 years, Youth Music Leader, Youth Bible Study, Choir member in several choirs covering 40 years, singer/accompanist of a Gospel group for 3 years.
Currently, she is a Pastoral Liaison to the Education, Facility and Grounds and Policy and Procedure committees. She facilitates the New Members classes and assists new members in finding their gifts and place in our church family.
Dean Bishop
Pastor Emeritus
Dean Bishop is a charter of member of White Rock Community Church serving as deacon in the first year of its inception. Since then he served as Associate Pastor, works with the Friend's Ministry, Visitation, and Outreach Programs. In 2004, the church named him Pastor Emeritus.
Pastor Dean received his ordination at First Baptist Church in Mena, Arkansas; and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Will Varner
Minister of Music
Will has directed and led music in a number of churches. This has included directing adult, youth, children’s and handbell choirs and in various church programs. He teaches elementary music in the Richardson Independent School District. He also is the Principal Accompanist/Assistant Artistic Director for The Women’s Chorus of Dallas. Will enjoys directing and playing piano for children’s choirs, church choirs, community choruses, instrumentalists, singers and musical theatre productions. He has written and arranged music for soloists, ensembles, church choirs, school choirs, and bell choirs. His music has been recorded and will soon be published.
His musical career has included a variety of musical experiences including teaching on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, playing gamelan for an opera and performing for Chinese music students while visiting China. Will has worked with classes all the way from kindergarten to college with classes in general music, band and choir.
Will has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, and a Master’s degree in Music Education from Holy Names University in Oakland, California. He has presented workshops in Kodàly music education topics, movement in music and folk dance. He has served as elementary vice-president of Texas Music Educators Association and served on the nation board of GALA Choruses.
